COPsync: President Obama's Stimulus Package Provides Grant Money for the Implementation of Information Sharing Technologies for Law Enforcement Agencies

Stimulus package earmarks almost $4Billion for law enforcement

CANYON LAKE, Texas, Feb. 27, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- COPsync, Inc. (OTCBB: COYN - News), a software technology provider to law enforcement and emergency service professionals, announced today that the economic stimulus bill will be a boon for law enforcement, allocating almost $4 billion to state justice systems, police departments and government sponsored prevention programs. COPsync, as a robust mobile data software that provides law enforcement with a real-time information sharing solution that exceeds the Federal Guidelines for information sharing as set by the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security, will be assisting Law Enforcement agencies to tap into these newly available funds to implement the COPsync™ platform.

According to COPsync, Inc. Founder and CEO, Russell Chaney,  “The current economic environment has affected us all, including federal, state and local governments. As a result, almost half of the states surveyed anticipate that the crime rate will rise due to the economic crisis. The Stimulus Bill contains $3 billion specifically for the Edward Byrne and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant programs which can be spent on developing technologies that emphasize crime prevention. Examples of technologies that past COPS grants have funded include geospatial crime analysis tools, automated notification systems and computer-aided dispatch. Our solution, which enables officers to instantaneously identify criminals, communicate with other officers, and access life saving and mission critical information, is the only software that provides full information sharing in real-time at point of incident, meeting the objectives of the grants.”

“We have a tremendous opportunity which will allow the more than 1.5 million law officers in the United States to share and exchange critical information,” commented Company President Shane Rapp. “We have been able to secure contracts with over 120 Law Enforcement Agencies in less than six months. With the emergence of this stimulus package, more agencies than ever will be able to access the critical funding needed to  implement our information sharing solution, providing law enforcement officers the ability to protect and serve at the speed of technology.”
